We have carried the world on our shoulders for months. Constant bad news and sadness can overwhelm us. Some of us have survivor’s guilt. Others anger and frustration, marking our losses. Often we feel helpless or depressed, others feel pure grief, not just for the great loss of lives from COVID, but for the other effects of the pandemic, climate change, war, inequities, racism, lies, disinformation, and more.
Our grief is real and important to not deny it. Feel it and mourn. As Kelly Wendorf writes in this great essay: “go ahead and cry”.
Wash your hands, cover your nose, keep your distance, and dig a hole to bury your grief or make some pandemic origami cranes to pour your heart into. And then remember the kindness that exists and keep going.
