Anger and love. These days my mood swings between love and anger. The outrage I feel about the failings of our leaders towards our citizens in this pandemic has me moved toward anger. At the same time I deeply feel love for many people and care for the world. My helplessness over the one sparks the anger, my love for so many keeps me going.
We, at least my friends, tend to fear anger and are intimidated by it. We discount anger as not useful. We feel guilty when we feel it, but it has its purpose as defender of all you love. Please read this excellent blog by my dear friend and mentor Kelly Wendorf about the benefits of anger. Watch the video of the Haka from New Zealand.
Then read this about love as an antidote to fear that my dear friend Paul Brown (no relation) shared. We need both right now. Love will keep you honest and motivated. Lives are at stake.
Wash your hands, cover your nose, keep safe six, and share your love.
And finally, my caveat is that this is my experience and my opinions, which are subject to change as more information is available, and not related to the organization I work for. Thanks for reading.
