In case you are wondering how my life as a family doctor in Seattle is right now in the epicenter of Covid19 in the US. Kind of crazy and the info keeps changing pretty quickly. I feel grateful to be in Seattle, King County, Washington State where we have a functioning public health system and a governor that cares. We have brilliant local scientists helping. Lots of guidance from many places, support from our leaders. I do find the event fascinating and I do have an interest in infectious diseases anyway. After all I went into the heart of Indian Country during the hantavirus scare in the 90's and have cared for HIV patients most of my career. I feel some concern because I am older but my health is good and as my staff said today “you are young at heart and that will protect you”. Just remember to wash your hands with soap and water, everyone!
